Well I for one am egg-stremely excited that April is almost here …
I love April, its when you start to really see Spring, well Spring to life.
Lots of teeny lambs, bunnies and the like start to arrive plus who doesn’t love an Easter bank holiday filled with choccie eggs and hot cross buns?
So you can spend more time enjoying your April I have curated a selection of special dates to give you a helping hand with your social content creation.
World Autism Awareness Week: 1st – 7th
This week is dedicated to raising awareness around Autism and funds for the National Autistic Society.
The funds raised will be used to continue running awareness campaigns, training professionals working with autistic people and much more.
For more info on how to get involved and order your free fundraising pack visit the organisers website here.
National Stationery Week: 29th – 5th (May)
If like me you are a huge fan of all things stationery (who doesn’t love a new notepad!) you really need to get involved with this week.
Ran by the London Stationery Show this week is all about encouraging more people to write things such as letters, cards and notes and hearing all about peoples fave products brands.
You could get involved by sharing mindfulness techniques you use your notepads for, a pic of your beautiful handwriting or just a chic flat lay or your fave organisation products.
National Gardening Week: 29th – 5th (May)
Green Fingered? This week is all about you … ran by the RHS, National Gardening Week is all about encouraging more people to garden and to further raise awareness of gardening and horticulture.
This years theme is Edible Britain so if you grow your own produce now is the time to shout about it. Share pics of your homegrown fruit and veggies with info about how you cared for them or even the recipes you are going to use them for.
April Fools Day – 1st
If you’re a keen prankster now is your time to shine, join in the fun by filming your pranks or sharing what you fave practical joke is.
Just make sure you keep it light hearted and don’t hurt anyone’s feelings.
Children’s Book Day – 2nd
This day always falls on or around Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday, and was founded to celebrate childrens books and to inspire a love of reading. More info can be found here.
Take this opportunity to share your fave childrens book of all time or share a memorable quote from a book you read as a child or read to your children now.
One of my fave book quotes is from The Twits – “A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin and stick-out teeth, but if you have good thoughts it will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”
International Pillow Fight Day – 6th
Thought pillow fights just took place at sleepovers in American films? Wrong!! On the 6th April people will be taking to the streets to take part in massive pillow fights which are taking place in cities around the world including London and New York.
Get involved with the pillow fighting flash mobs or organise your own team pillow fight.
Easter – Good Friday – 19th & Easter Sunday – 21st
There are so many things to celebrate over these few days, firstly the majority of people will have FOUR WHOLE DAYS OFF WORK and will be catching up with friends and family. If you are doing the same share what you are getting up to and what other local businesses you are supporting.
Working? Share any special offers you have and keep and eye out for user generated content you can RT and share.
Other content ideas are Spring images, so some lovely daffodils, little lambs or even your choccie egg haul.
Traditionally Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus on Good Friday and then celebrate Easter Sunday as the day he was resurrected.

Saint George’s Day – 23rd
This day is all about celebrating St George, England’s patron saint. According to legend, he was a soldier in the Roman army who killed a dragon and saved a princess.
Keep your content traditional by sharing some dragon related content or take the opportunity to share some quintessentially English items … such as a delightful gin cocktail, some bunting or perhaps some scones. If you are feeling creative you could re-create the Saint George’s Cross with your cream and Jam.
Whatever you decide to do make sure you use the hashtag :
World Penguin Day – 25th
This day is all about the worlds favourite flightless birds…there are 17 species of penguins so now the time to pick your fave (I know its hard) and share some penguin related facts, pictures or puns.
Feeling generous? Why not adopt a penguin with the WWF you’ll get a cute cuddly toy, updates on a regular basis and a warm fuzzy feeling that you’ll be helping these lovely creatures that are in real danger of becoming extinct.
The London Marathon – 28th
This year fundraising for this event has reached £1billion and has supported a wide range of causes thanks to the dedications of its runners and fundraisers.
If you’re running make sure you share content about your training journey on the run up to the marathon and share how much you have raised.
At home watching? you can still get involved by well wishing friends who are running or just supporting the runners in general using the hashtags.
Don’t forget social media is all about being social so make sure you reply to any comments you have and most importantly get involved with conversation online where you can.
Look forward to seeing all your April content, don’t forget if you need help with your social strategy I can help. Find out more here.
